Brand review: Axis-Y

Climate Inspired Skincare Solutions; this is Axis-y’s motto for their skincare line. With their 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare (611), they have created the most sincere skincare for people with oily, acne-prone skin living in humid climates. Each product is carefully formulated to address a skin concern personal to their community using natural, effective ingredients that care and nourish.

I was introduced to the brand by Marshear Beauty when they sent me the daily purifying treatment toner and then Axis-Y was very kind enough to send me the rest of their skincare line. I remember when I posted my review on the toner, Axis-Y privately DM-ed me asking if I have any suggestions to improve the toner and I was immediately drawn into the brand.

So far they have a cleanser, toner, serum, ampoule and duo cream in their skincare line and I have tried & tested them thoroughly last year and I’d like to share my reviews on these products here in my blog.

Let’s start with the cleanser.

1) Quinoa One Step Balanced Gel Cleanser is described as a loving cleanser that clears makeup and pores in one step while delivering a gentle and hydrating wash at your skin’s natural pH. The combination of quinoa and healthy nutrients remove environmental toxins to reveal healthy, lively skin.

With pH of 5-6, this face cleanser contains ingredients like chenopodium quinoa seed extract that supports the synthesis of collagen and elastin for supple and smooth skin, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract to fight breakouts, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract to treat skin damage from UV rays, centella asiatica extract for its soothing properties, calendula officinalis flower extract to speeds healing of blemishes and acne scars in tropical climates. This cleanser also contains only non-harsh surfactants like decyl glucoside, sodium cocoyl glutamate and sodium lauroyl glutamate.

I really like this cleanser a lot. It’s very gentle on the skin and I love how practical the bottle is since it comes with a pump so I always reach out for this cleanser everyday. It bubbles up very easily and the foam is very fluffy and soft to the touch. This cleanser leaves my skin so, so soft especially if I use with my Foreo luna play plus.

2) Daily Purifying Treatment Toner is described to clears out bacteria and pollution stuck deep in pores that cause persistent inflammation and acne. Nutrients from our natural ingredients then soothe skin and promote healing.

When I see centella asiatica extract and aloe barbadensis(aloe vera) leaf water very high up in the ingredient list, I was very happy and excited for this toner, until I see alcohol a few seconds later. Now I’m not totally against alcohol in skincare because it has its own importance and function but if you have problem with skin barrier, if you have dry or sensitive skin then this toner might not be for you. Besides it also contains citrus limon (lemon) fruit extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract and lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil which can be sensitizing to the skin. But on another note, this toner has melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil,
melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract and 0.5% of salicylic acid which are great to combat and treat acne.

This toner has helped my skin so much when I had my breaking out phase earlier this year. Especially the cystic acne kind but unfortunately I can’t use this very often as it will make my skin feel irritated which sucks because this toner is amazing at treating breakout.

3) Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum is described as a serum to correct dark spots and improve uneven skin tone. With the help of plant-derived squalane, this serum retains skin’s moisture to keep your skin glowing healthy wherever you go.

I am a huge fan of niacinamide and squalane and I was so pumped after seeing these two ingredients in this serum. This product contains 5% of niacinamide; an ingredient that is amazing at fading acne scars, reducing dark spots and evens out skin tone. It also helps to boost collagen and reduce the appearance of wrinkles & fine lines. Squalane (don’t mistaken this to squalene) balances oil production for moisturized skin and promotes the formation of collagen for firmer, plumper skin. Hippophae Rhamnoides fruit extract (sea buckthorn) keeps skin hydrated by reducing water loss and supports the recovery of burns and wounds.

This serum is very moisturizing even on its own. Yes I’ve tried using this as my last step (moisturizer) while I was taking care of my father at the hospital and I couldn’t be bothered to put anything else. It keeps my skin well moisturized and not heavy or greasy at all. It also has a pump which is very convenient to use. To be honest I can’t really tell if it helps to fade my acne scars just because there’s only 5% of niacinamide and I’m already so used with using 10% of niacinamide serums but overall this is great to have in your skincare routine if you have dry to oily skin types.

4) Artichoke Intensive Skin Barrier Ampoule is described as an ampoule that delivers rich anti-oxidants, nutrients and hydration that heals damaged, irritated skin barriers. In addition, phytonutrients defend against bacteria and pollutants to prevents future breakouts and irritation.

This ampoule contains artichoke bud extract which helps skin retain moisture & build up cell wall density for tight and tiny pores. It also nourishes skin from the inside to plump up skin for a smooth, healthy look. It also has centella asiatica extract to boosts your skin’s natural healing process to prevent acne scars and to calms irritation and inflammation. Tea tree leaf oil is listed at the very bottom list; it helps to prevents the over production of oils and eliminates acne-causing bacteria using its antibacterial properties.

This is also another very moisturizing product from Axis-Y despite having alcohol in the ingredient list. The texture is very slippery and not something that I’m a fan of but it doesn’t cause piling and layers beautifully with other products. I only use this at night because it tends to leave my skin sticky.

5) Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream is described as a “U Zone” and “T Zone” based cream to tend to your skin’s year-round, ever-changing moisturizing needs for a youthful, nourished glow. It has two unique formulas to tend to any moisturizing need.

75448845_163975621644572_3425140257954280821_n

As the name suggests, this moisturizer has two different kind of creams in one jar. It’s divided to T-zone cream & U-zone cream. The T-zone cream contains ingredients like heartleaf to helps control excessive oils, licorice to calms inflammation on sensitive skin caused by pollutants and rosacea, brightens skin while healing age spots, acne scarring, & sun damage, rice to brighten the skin, sage to soothes irritation, defends against bacteria and fungi & regulates sebum production. The U-zone cream meanwhile has ingredients like purslane to atimulates the production of collagen and defends against free-radicals, ceramide which is great for the skin barrier and glasswort to strengthens skin barrier, supports skin recovery and deeply moisturizes the skin. Both creams also share a few same ingredients like allantoin, sorghum and centella asiatica.

I am a huge fan with the idea of having two different creams in one packaging because I myself have combination skin so this kind of product is perfect for someone like me. I prefer using the T-zone cream in the morning and the U-zone cream at night. The U-zone cream is highly moisturizing and if you have very dry to dry skin, this cream is for you. As for my skin type (normal to oily), the T-zone is made for someone like me. I’m actually almost done with my T-zone cream while I still have a lot of the U-zone cream left. I will still use it up though because one I hate wasting good product and two my skin tends to feel dry when I use actives like AHA, BHA, vitamin C & A.
